US Pirate Party National Committee Votes to Endorse Grady for Governor

Mansfield, OH – August 12, 2025 – The United States Pirate Party has officially endorsed Independent candidate Timothy Grady for Governor of Ohio in the 2026 election. The vote took place at the conclusion of the National Committee’s regular meeting on August 10th after a Q&A session with Grady.

“Endorsements from this party aren’t just handed out.” said Jolly Mitch, Captain of the U.S. Pirate Party, “We keep an eye out for honest campaigns and it was obvious to everyone in the party that Mr. Grady is running an honest campaign. Ohio deserves more than the same song and dance of corruption, and they have an opportunity to say ‘enough is enough'”

Grady, who is running as an Independent, has built his campaign on fighting political corruption, investing in overlooked Rustbelt communities, and defending individual liberty while expanding freedoms. “I’m honored to have the support and endorsement of the U.S. Pirate Party,” Grady said, “They’ve been leaders in standing up for our rights and liberties; particularly our right to privacy, in the age of mass surveillance and government overreach. It’s about open society, transparent government, and sharing and growing our collective knowledge. That’s what the Pirate Party stands for, that’s what I stand for, and that’s what we’re going to fight for together.”

About the United States Pirate Party

The U.S. Pirate Party, founded in 2006, is the second-oldest Pirate Party in the world, following the lead of the Swedish Pirate Party. From an early tech-friendly focus, the US Pirate Party has grown into a broader movement with a distinctly American Pirate identity.

In recent years, Pirate candidates such as Ethan Osborne, who earned over 10,000 votes in Kentucky’s CD-4 race in 2022; and Joseph Onoroski, who captured 21.8% of the vote in a two-way race for Massachusetts State Representative in 2024 against an incumbent Democrat, have demonstrated the grassroots growth of Pirate politics.

The nearly twenty year old US Pirate Party could be summarized with the words Captain Jolly Mitch often ends meetings with: “We believe the United States should be a good neighbor, we believe in keeping our water clean, and we believe that if purchasing isn’t ownership, then piracy isn’t theft”

Part of a global movement with Pirate Parties active across in countries such as Brazil, Chile, Australia, and much of Europe, the Pirates have seen major electoral success abroad, such as in Iceland and the Czech Republic.
