My name is Andrea Neutzling, and I am running as Timothy Grady’s Lieutenant Governor. I believe that as an Independent I can help cross the aisle between the
Republicans and Democrats to help make this state better for all of Ohio citizens and not just the select few.
While I’m not a lifelong Independent, I have gotten tired of seeing those in the two main political parties not listen to those who put them into their positions. Ohioans vote statewide for particular matters and once passed those in Columbus want to change it again.
Some of the items that are near and dear to her heart for bettering Ohio: creating a
better education funding system, creating a better way to protect those who are being
bullied in their schools, and better State benefits for our Disabled Veterans.
Bio
Andrea was born in Gallia County, as it was the only hospital around and raised in
Meigs County. She participated in 4-H, FFA, Girl Scouts (earning her Gold Award) and
even a year in Police Explorers with Athens County. She worked for 3 summers as a
tomato field picker and then got certified as a Lifeguard and worked from her freshman
summer until she left for Basic Training at her local public pools.
She attended Meigs Local School District until her Freshman year, when she
transferred, due to being bullied, to Southern Local School District. The end of her
Junior year, she was tired of being bullied at Southern and transferred for her Senior
year to River Valley High School in Cheshire, Ohio. Andrea played many sports growing
up; basketball, softball, track and field, and ran Cross Country in order to prepare
herself to enlist in the United States Army.
She served Active Duty from 2000-2004 as an Intelligence Analyst serving at Camp
Essayons, South Korea, and Fort Gordon, GA. She then became an Army Reservist with
an Military Police unit out of Columbus, Ohio. Getting deployed in 2005-2006 with a unit
from Michigan. While in Active Duty and during her deployment she faced sexual
harassment and assault, which led to her advocating for changes to the Military Justice
system for members who’ve been harassed and assaulted. She was also exposed to
the Burn Pit on Camp Bucca Iraq. Leading to her advocating with others to get the
PACT Act passed in 2022. She was Honorably Discharged from the Reserves in April
2010, just 3 months shy of serving for 10 years and Honorably Discharged twice from
Active Duty service, in 2004 and 2007.
Andrea attended Ohio University for a little while and didn’t find it a good fit for her. In
2012 she started attending Marietta College in Marietta Ohio. There she graduated in
2017 with a BA in Theatre Studies and even took some Political Science classes, to
include State and Local Politics and Constitutional Law.
She is currently married now and had 2 kids while still in the Army. A daughter who is
now 22 years old and a son that passed away on Mother’s Day in 2008 while living in
Texas with his father. She is a Substitute Teacher for various school districts in Athens
and Meigs Counties. She is a current District Senior Vice Commander at VFW District 12. She also enjoys writing.
